Walt Disney World, Epcot, ESPN Wide World of Sports, Universal Studios / Harry Potter, Sea World Orlando, Legoland, and many other parks and resorts are just a short drive from the lakes. For guests that need transportation, arrangements can often be made for pick-up and drop-off to various resorts or hotels, please email Taylor Made Charters or call 855-354-8433 prior to booking a trip.
Taylor Made Charters specializes in fishing for Central Florida / Orlando Florida largemouth bass with artificial baits, and the boat is loaded with a wide array of soft plastics (including worms, flukes, craws, punch baits, and swim baits), topwaters, jigs, and jerk baits. We gladly help guests who wish to fish with live shiners also. The most popular trips focus on fishing with artificial baits while occasionally using shiners to entice and fire-up a few big fish.
Lake Tohopekaliga is commonly referred to as Lake Toho, or West Lake Toho, and at 22,7000 acres is the 6th largest natural lake in Florida. It is part of the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes and is one of Florida's best big bass lakes. Both B.A.S.S. and FLW Outdoors make regular stops on their respective tours here. Lake Toho bass fishing is world-famous and can be reached in an hour and a half from both the Atlantic coast (including the Space Coast, Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, and Cocoa Beach), or from the Gulf Coast of Tampa (Tampa Bay), Clearwater (Clearwater Beach), and St. Petersburg (Tampa / St. Pete's). Lake Toho is approximately 16 miles from Orlando International Airport and 12 miles from Walt Disney World making it very convenient for vacationers. Baseball fans visiting the Atlanta Braves Spring Training complex, Champion Stadium at the ESPN Wide World Of Sports at Walt Disney World Resort, or the Houston Astros Spring Training complex at Osceola County Stadium are just minutes away from the well-maintained Kissimmee Lakefront park and ramp at the north end of the lake, just a few blocks from downtown Kissimmee.
Lying just east of Lake Wales, Lake Kissimmee is the largest lake in the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes and covers roughly 35,000 acres making it the 3rd largest lake in Florida. Aggressive habitat management by the Florida FWC provides excellent cover for anglers to flip-n-pitch, or drift shiners for their trophy Florida largemouth bass. Lakeland, home of the Detroit Tiger's Spring Training complex at Joker Marchant Stadium, is a short drive from Kissimmee State Park or Camp Mack Resort on the west side of the lake. Just like Lake Toho, Lake Kissimmee is easily reached from either the Atlantic Coast / Space Coast / Cocoa Beach or the Gulf Coast / Tampa / Clearwater / St Pete's area.
Winter Haven Chain of Lakes
The Winter Haven Chain of Lakes totals 18 lakes in all, 14 in the South Chain and 4 in the North Chain. These natural lakes are interconnected by no-wake canals and the South Chain is predominantly in residential areas. These lakes are easily accessible from Orlando, Kissimmee, Lakeland, Tampa / St. Pete's, Clearwater, Lake Wales, and Sarasota.
Harris Chain of Lakes
The Harris Chain of Lakes sits northwest of Orlando and consists of Laek Harris, Little Lake Harris, Lake Apopka, Lake Dora, Lake Beauclair, Lake Carlton, Lake Eustis, and Lake Griffin. Chris Lane won the 2012 B.A.S.S. Southern Open on this chain of lakes fishing on Lake Griffin. These are natural lakes, both spring and river fed and offer fantastic fishing, especially during the spawn.
